Austin, January 25 2024 — In a groundbreaking study conducted by the University of Texas at Austin, rideshare startup Fetii has been identified as a transformative solution to the persistent issue of traffic congestion in urban areas. Fetii’s platform allows groups and businesses to hail a 15-passenger sprinter van on-demand with the click of a button, removing the need to split up and utilize multiple cars.

The research, led by experts at UT Austin, delves into the challenges posed by traffic congestion and the environmental impact of traditional rideshare services and single occupancy vehicles. Fetii, founded by Matthew Iommi and Justin Rath, has emerged as a beacon of change in the rideshare landscape, offering spacious 15-seater vans to efficiently transport multiple passengers in a single vehicle.

“Urban congestion and environmental concerns are escalating challenges that demand innovative solutions. Fetii has not only acknowledged these issues but has actively become a part of the solution,” says Megha Patel, the lead researcher on the project.

Key Findings from the UT Austin Study:

  • Fetii’s unique model significantly reduces the number of individual vehicles on the road during group travel, addressing traffic congestion effectively.
  • Fetii’s commitment to sustainability aligns with the global need for more efficient and environmentally conscious transportation options.
  • At scale and with operations in all US major cities, Fetii has the potential to be a much-needed answer to nationwide congestion concerns.

The study quantifies Fetii’s impact, revealing that the average Fetii trip consolidates transportation needs that would otherwise require around five individual cars on the road. With an average of 9.9 passengers per trip and a monthly transportation count of 147,017 passengers, Fetii is actively contributing to a cleaner and less congested urban future. The UT Austin study also reveals that Fetii’s carbon emissions are on par with a single car, surpassing the environmental efficiency of traditional rideshare services. This data underscores Fetii’s superiority in reducing congestion and environmental impact when compared to other urban transportation options.

“We are thrilled to see the positive impact Fetii is making on urban congestion and carbon emissions. The results of this study affirm Fetii’s position as a game-changer in the rideshare industry,” adds Sri Pisupati, project manager for the study. “With operations gaining momentum in key metropolitan areas across Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama, Fetii’s success in reducing congestion and environmental impact has positioned it as a national game-changer. The scalability of Fetii’s model makes it a promising solution for major U.S. cities grappling with traffic challenges.”

Arianna Baio, a frequent Fetii user from Austin, shares, ‘Fetii has transformed the way we travel as a group. The reduced traffic and eco-friendly approach combined with the fun atmosphere Fetii provides, makes it a preferred choice for our outings. It’s a win-win for both experience and sustainability.”

Matthew Iommi, CEO of Fetii, expresses his enthusiasm for the findings, stating, “At Fetii, we are proud to be recognized by the University of Texas at Austin for our commitment to addressing traffic congestion and environmental challenges. Our goal is to provide a sustainable and efficient alternative in urban mobility, and this study reinforces our mission. We believe that by working together, we can create cities that are not only traffic-free but also environmentally friendly.”

Fetii’s success in Texas and its current markets paves the way for future expansion into additional major U.S. cities. Plans are underway to introduce Fetii’s unique rideshare model to urban areas nationwide, solidifying its role as a transformative force in redefining the future of transportation.
